Kanye West Short Film

Just watch it and then read my review............Lets see how 'Normal' we all are...

Simone Karma Rae's Review:

Kanye West is '' I'm Speechlesss'' RUNAWAY..........Platform for Difference & Creativity! I was going to categorize in to Fashion, Themes, Music etc but I'm gonna flow from my mind So here it goes.

I am not sure why Kanye West decided to put this short film together but i must say i am in great anticipation for his Album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'.

Selita Ebanks
I enjoyed this film for its Controversy, Beauty, Music, Choreography, Cinematography, Style and artistic creation. Selita Ebanks as the 'Phoenix' was legendary......She had a leaf covering her Vagina. The costume was alluring and tasteful, the textures of the feathers came alive when she moved. I felt as though i was in a Theatre and watching a live Interpretation of Kanye's Mind.

Kanye directed the film and I am sure he chose the White people in white clothes for a purpose, The black people at the table in fine luxury suits and gowns. Tastefully done but i think this was to illustrate how roles have changed but is this significant? Regardless of colour we are all one people, Colour does not define who you are or who you will become. The Bird was ridiculed and looked upon as shameful and 'DIFFERENT'

The Phoenix said to Kanye 'Everything that is different, your world has to change'

That sentence summarised the ideas of most but not the characteristics of some.
The soundtrack was perfect and the choice of songs helped emphasis the points Kanye is making with his current creative direction.

The visual explains the title of his album - some scenes do not make sense but it shows we idolise and focus on the lessor evils in the world. Is Kanye paying Homage to Michael Jackson or is he mocking that we mourned the death of a 'mere mortal'?

I don't know the answers but i know how that Film made me feel, The Juxtaposition of music and scenes was beautifully executed. The contrasting ballerinas movement was expressive yet contemporary and poetic. I love the classical movement of Ballerinas. The history behind Ballet is more for an upper class, high society market however Kanye chose the Ballerinas to perform to his style of 'Urban' music and it worked.

Hype Williams is back!

Key line that stood out to me:

'Lost in this Plastic Life' Are we all lost or are we trying so hard to not be different?

Brings me back to my earlier article....Call me what you like, I'm anything other than 'Normal'

'Who will Survive in America'- the echoing of this in the background sent a chill through my body, I don't know why but it did!

So what did you think?
